Welcome to Moé Passion!

Moé Passion is a photo intensive site featuring articles of Japan and world travel, reviews of anime figures and Dollfie Dreams, Japan conventions and attractions, and a bit of my life in the US Navy. As you can see this site is rather photo intensive and I am always working to try and make it more user friendly. The top 10 most recent posts and well as the 8 most popular ones are featured on the right side of the page. In addition, there are tabs at the top of the page for my figure reviews, travels, artbook reviews, and Dollfie Dream coverage. If you are looking for something more specific, please do try to search or use the category box on the right hand side of the page.

Most of the content on my page is produced by me, but I do not add watermarks because I dislike them. However, I ask that you please give credit and link back to my blog whenever you use my pictures on your sites and forums. Also, you will find that on my latest reviews, I have been linking higher res pics on Dannychoo’s figure.fm. You will find that link on the bottom of the page if a figure.fm article has been created.

A bit about the names and avatars I am using. I have been going by the name Punynari since my high school days. Punynari is a wimpy anime character in the anime Girls Bravo who was always picked on by girls and breaks out in hives whenever one gets closed to him. In real life, I am a shy guy and am not the most popular guy on the planet so the name has stuck with me. The avatar I am using on wordpress and Dannychoo is of Kimura-sensei from the anime Azumanga Daioh. Kimura represents my inner-self and online personality which is not at all shy and is a bit more perverted then what I am in real life. My site’s name is just one of my passions. Moé is a Japanese slang word for the attraction or appreciation of cute, innocent, sexy anime characters depicted in anime and games. It is not always a sexual attraction, and in fact, most times is not.

A bit about myself. I am currently a Second Class Petty Officer assigned to the USS Mustin, a destroyer stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. I joined the Navy to see the world but also because I needed time to think just what I wanted to do with my life. I have no regrets about my decision which has allowed me to visit countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Guam, Saipan, Australia, and the Solomon Islands. Places I would not get to see growing up in a not-so-rich family. Look forward to more travels and Japan Otakuism as I finish up my service in the US Navy.

      Hi Trenton Riopel,

I’ll try my best to give you all some advice on where to go on your honeymoon in Japan.

For anime figures and the like, of course Akihabara is the main place you should go. In Akihabara, some places to find used items is K Books and Mandarake. For new items, I usually go to Volks or Kotobukiya. Akihabara is (most of the time), the best place to find new items.

There are 2 more less traveled (and less infamous) shopping locations. Nakano and Ikebukuro.
Nakano is the easier to get to location. Just one stop over from Shinjuku station to Nakano station via the Chuo Line. At Nakano station, take the north exit and look for a large mall right outside the station. Head straight through the mall, you’ll see “Nakano Broadway sign” and then go up the stairs or escalator. 4th floor for Dollfie Dreams, 3rd floor for books, 2nd floor figures and doujinishi. There’s lots more then that, but that’s what I check.

Ikebukuro I don’t recommend. It primarily caters to the female otaku and has alot of boy’s love products. There is one male oriented K Books section there but it’s not worth the trouble of getting to it in my opinion. If you want to go, from Ikebukuro station, follow maps to the Sunshine 60 building. The “maiden road” stores are right across the street from it.

For a honeymoon, there are some good spots out there for couples not far from Tokyo. Yokohama is the best known spot. At Yokohama station, take the Minatomirai subway line to Minato Mirai. At Minato Mirai, there are lots of good restaurants, good icecream, a very large iconic ferris wheel, and some good places to walk by the water. By far, I see the most couples at Yokohama.

Another good couple spot, but is a bit of ways from Tokyo is Enoshima. Good restaurants, beautiful views, and some dark caverns traveled through by candle light. The downside is (besides the long train ride), there are ALOT of stairs. With your back, might not be a good idea.

Of course, there is the Otaku locations that are fun to explore. Not all might be honeymoon areas though.
You know the Odaiba Gundam of course. Very important to visit that as it might not be there very long.

There is the Lucky Star Shrine. That’s a bit of the ways away though. On the plus side, if you go there you can visit Asakusa on the way. Just be careful when switching trains. From what I heard, some of them don’t go to your destination in Washinomiya.

That’s all I can think of, unless you want to travel 3 or more hours on the Shinkansen from Tokyo Station. Hope this helps you guys out.

Directions to the above locations here on my travel page. You might find more here as well.
