What an enchanting trail! What a day in the mountains! Today, I hiked the Palehua Trail to Palikea with the Friends of Honouliuli and Dave from Not So Great Hiking Blog. With their assistance, I was able to visit one of Oahu’s best and most restricted trails. Please enjoy my photowalk as I travel Palehua Trail while looking for native plants, snails, and wonderful photo opportunities.

Waimano Ridge
Out of all the ridge trails I’ve done, I think that Waimano Ridge may offer the most variety for folks looking for a good adventure. The 15 mile round trip journey to the summit goes through remote and lush valleys, dark and spooky tunnels, and through lots of tropical forests that really let you grasp the real Hawaii. The trail is not very popular though and is rarely traveled to the summit due to its length. That’s a shame because Waimano Ridge is the easiest 15 miles you will ever walk. Please enjoy my adventure up the wonderfully preserved CCC trail known as Waimano Ridge.

Schofield-Waikane Trail
The Schofield-Waikane Trail is a seldom traveled path that takes you deep into Oahu’s most untouched and rugged wilderness. It was built in the 1920′s by the US Army as a route from Wahiawa to the windward side. Presently, civilians and military alike can access this long but scenic trail to the overlook and then proceed to Kahana Valley if they choose. Please enjoy my adventure as I complete the old Schofield-Waikane trail.

Konahuanui
Recently, on my third attempt, I have finally reached the chilly summits of Konahuanui. The twin peaks are the highest mountains on the Ko’olau range and are often shrouded in clouds. But, on this rare day, the views were endless and clear with the night sky lit by a full moon. Please enjoy my first overnight hike as I hike through cloud forests and amongst native vegetation to reach the chilly summits of Konahuanui.

Popoia and Mokulua Islands
Ahoy there! Yesterday, I set off to explore Popoia (Flat Island) and the Mokulua Islands (The Moks) via a kayak and a good spirit of adventure. All three islands can be seen off the shores of Kailua and Lanikai beaches and can mostly be reached by kayak or boat. Please enjoy my first kayaking photowalk as I explore the Flat and Mok Islands.

Olomana – Three Peaks Completed
I can’t believe I did this! How far I’ve come! Olomana (also known as three peaks) is a difficult trail near Kailua and Maunawili Falls. The 3 peaks are also sometimes referred to as “Oahu’s Matterhorn” and by military as “the best hike on the island”. Personally, I would say that the views on Olomana were certainly outstanding and the hike was dangerous but terribly fun. Please enjoy my photowalk as I complete the climb to Ahiki (Olomana’s third peak).

Shark’s Cove
Shark’s Cove is a popular place to relax on the North Shore of Oahu. It’s one of my favorites. Inside the sharp and rocky pools are some wonderful snorkling opportunities and a good chance to see some of Hawaii’s colorful fish in a relatively safe setting. Please enjoy my first underwater adventure as I explore Shark’s Cove.
